VANDANA SHIVA

Physicist · pioneer of seed sovereignty and regenerative agriculture

Vandana Shiva

Trained as a physicist, Vandana Shiva became one of the world's most influential voices for a decolonized, regenerative food system. Her seed-saving movement – led largely by women farmers – protects native seeds, trains growers in climate-resilient crops, and enables millions of farmers to earn a sustainable income in harmony with nature.

She is also one of the fiercest critics of corporate agriculture: the patents on life, the chemical dependency, the monocultures that deplete land and farmer alike. Her alternative is not nostalgia but a working model of circular agriculture – and her warning gives this movement one of its defining lines: we will either have a future where women take the lead in making peace with the Earth, or no future for humanity at all.
